Carbide & Carbon is one of my favorite buildings in Chicago. I saw this building during one of my very first visits to the city and it made a lasting impressions on me. The urban legend is that Carbide & Carbon is supposed to look like a champagne bottle. Not only does the building narrow towards the top like a bottle, but most of the building is decorated in dark green terra-cotta white the very top of the building has shiny, gold terra-cotta, representing the gold foil of the bottle. Cheers!
