Today I spent the day with my friend Joanna! We’re both members of CAF, the Chicago Architecture Foundation in Chicago, and with that membership, we get about 80 free walking tours throughout the year. We’ve managed to get one tour in a month since December.
For our second get-together, we took the Palmer House tour. Our guide was a cute, older lady who was so full of knowledge about this Grand Hotel. Not only did we walk around the outside of the building learning about the architecture, stopping at the most beautiful lobby in Chicago, and view the Grand Ballroom, which I had already experienced, but we got to walk through the other two ballrooms, the State Ballroom and the Empire Room. We also got to go up to the 8th floor and walk through one of their many hotel rooms. Out of 1,639 guest rooms, very few are identical.
After our tour, we ate at The Dearborn, 145 N Dearborn Street. Yum!
